Week 16
An example of an experimental film includes Telling Lies (https://vimeo.com/19974262). It is an experimental film because it does not follow genre conventions of a regular short film. Linking back to Broadwell and Thompson's "Film Art: An Introduction" an experimental film is a film that challenges typical mainstream cinema. For example, no visuals are shown on screen, it is an audio heavy film that only shows captions. The film is based on the main character Phil's phone calls the morning after a night out. The on screen captions also correct the lies told in the narrative which links back to the films title 'Telling Lies'. I think the fact that the lies are corrected in the caption adds a brilliant technical element to the film so the audience know about the truth making them understand the narrative more in such a short amount of time. An experimental film could be made for many reasons; the filmmaker may want to get across a message or share an experience that wouldn't necessarily have much of an audience effect with a typical narrative. Overall 'Telling Lies' is a great example of an experimental film as it successfully takes a new approach to story telling while getting its message across.

Week 14
Sound List
Equipment List
Audio Technica AT8015 Rifle Microphone - This is will be the main device to capture the audio recording.
Headphones - This device will be for the audio recorder so they can hear what they are recording and to test the quality.
Zoom H4N - This device is used to record and save the sound recordings. It is the device that is connected to the microphone to record the sound.
Monday 17th October 2016
This is the day we agreed to get all of the farm sound. After arranging a date and time with the management of the farm who agreed we could record there, we were given a slot of around 2 hours to get all the sound we felt necessary. Getting as many animal sounds as well as quiet ambient sound from the farm we feel is crucial to our sound project.
We scheduled to do our editing for the farm project for the following week whenever we could. Depending on our uni hours we all used the uni servers to edit when we could and add extra additions over the week. We would then go on to review what we had edited the following week.
Wednesday 26th October 2016
This is the day we agreed with Corp to film our club sounds. Corp is open Wednesday nights and after failed attempts to get access to Plug and CODE, Corp allowed us to film our sound project on this night. During this recording slot, we intended to get a lot of ambience from the club from various areas such as smoking area, club main room, club second room and also get some sound recording of conversations.
Because we are running tight on a deadline after this shoot. We agreed to do sound editing on the Friday as well as Monday next week. We believed two days of full editing gave us plenty of time to create a high piece of quality edit.
